News Beauty-Queen Päm-Bäm in love with Berlin
Hurdle sprint star Pamela Dutkiewicz as well as former European Champion Cindy Roleder are great medal hopes for this summer. 2017 was Pamela’s big year – bronze medal at the World Championships in London and two gold medals at the indoor and outdoor National Championships. Päm-Bäm, like her fans call her, is definitely on the fast track. For Berlin 2018 she swapped her spikes for sneakers and showed photographer Michael Handelmann her favourite place in Berlin: the new City West.
Also outside the tartan track, the superwoman attracts a lot of attention. You can easily tell that she feels comfortable in her athletic, slim body. She pays attention to her appearance, is always perfectly styled and you’ll hardly ever meet her without wearing lipstick. “Without make-up, I feel like 100 meters without hurdles. I am an absolute beauty-shopping victim. Something new, something nicely wrapped – I buy it immediately! I have many beauty products at home, however, I don’t need that much time in the bathroom – Practice makes perfect”, she admits with a laugh. Statements like these make her all the more likeable.
Pamela Dutkiewicz: "Emotional, unaffected by other people´s opinions and conscientious."
The 26-year old describes herself as emotional, unaffected by other people´s opinions and conscientious. Besides athletics, she studies elementary school education and admits: “It took me quite some time to bring these two things together. For me sport is an absolute priority. By now, I have developed a sense for how much I can do for university besides training.“ She likes to spend her free time with great people, delicious food and good books. In Berlin, she especially fell in love with the City West. “There is such a great spirit of optimism“, she says. During the European Athletics Championships this summer, in exactly this part of Berlin, the Breitscheidplatz will be turned into the European Mile, where, amongst other events, the victory ceremonies will be held. Perhaps with Päm-Bäm? As modest as she is, she says: “My goal is to be mentally and physically ready at the right moment and to show my best possible performance.”
